Hertfordshire Van Driver Wins National Title
Carl Davies has beaten strong competition from across the UK to be crowned The APC’s “Driver of the Year”. Carl received his accolade at the company’s annual All Depot Meeting (ADM) in Birmingham on 14th September.
Carl has worked in logistics for over twenty years. The hotly contested award was received in recognition of his five years’ service at local depot Hertfordshire Overnight Ltd, based in St Albans.
Carl Davies, Van Driver at Hertfordshire Overnight Ltd, said: “What an honour to be named Van Driver of the Year! I feel very lucky to work with impressive businesses across Hertfordshire, and am proud to be part of The APC family.”
The APC is the UK’s largest independent delivery network. Each of its 103 depots is invited to nominate a van driver from their business for the “Driver of the Year” award, and Carl was chosen from this shortlist via a vote.
Carl was nominated for his outstanding commitment to serving customers in Barnet and Borehamwood. Colleagues and customers alike praised him for his conscientious approach to all deliveries and flexibility to accommodate customer demands, even those made at the last minute.
Margo Lerin, Managing Director at Hertfordshire Overnight Ltd, said: “Carl is a true team player who goes above and beyond, all for the benefit of his colleagues and customers in and around Hertfordshire. And on top of that, he delivers a smile with every load.
“Reliable, conscientious and friendly service is exactly why our SME customers keep coming back to us. We are very proud of Carl’s achievements and believe that there is no one more deserving of Van Driver of the Year.”
As well as individual team members, the ADM awards recognised the outstanding achievements of employees and depots across the network. Carl’s depot, Hertfordshire Overnight Ltd, won “Anglian Regional Depot of the Year”, and Mercian Logistics Ltd, based in Hereford, won “Depot of the Year”. Agne Fellows from The APC’s Cannock Hub won “Employee of the Year”.
