Local Berkshire Business Wins Business Charity Award
Adrian Smith, Group CEO of The Swift Logistics Group, a member depot of the UK’s largest independent delivery network – The APC – has won a Local Business Charity award in Berkshire.
The award highlights Adrian and The Swift Logistics Group’s dedication to helping Newbury Soup Kitchen over the past two years, by offering guidance and support to the charity. They have also made introductions to relevant businesses in the local area who have supported the charity and themselves donated a van to help deliver food to the homeless.
Adrian Smith, Managing Director of the Swift Group said: “To be nominated for this award was an honour in itself, but to then go on to win the individual category is hugely gratifying. Working with Meryl and Newbury Soup Kitchen over the past two years has been extremely rewarding. The impact that Newbury Soup Kitchen has on the homeless, and those less fortunate than others in the area is profound, and I look forward to continuing to help Meryl make a difference in the future. “
Jeffrey Branch, Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Berkshire, who presented the Individual award said:
”Two years ago Meryl Praill set up Newbury Soup Kitchen without any knowledge or experience of homelessness or the myriad of problems that leads to a person losing their home. The day she met Adrian Smith, Managing Director of the Swift Logistics Group was highly fortuitous. With the full and enthusiastic support of everyone at The Swift Logistics Group, Adrian has been a guiding light to Meryl offering outstanding support over the past two years. Berkshire is a better place because of men like Adrian and we are delighted to announce him as the winner of the Individual Award tonight. He will be receiving a weekend away which the judges consider is fully deserved.”
As a gesture of goodwill, Adrian has donated his prize to a deserving member of the Swift Logistics Group team.
